Innovative, mining specific CX series conveyor drives from David Brown

cx.jpgDavid Brown, the global expert in gearing solutions and services, has revealed its new innovative conveying system, the CX series, at MINExpo 2012. This newly launched customised conveyor drive system has been designed specifically for the mining industry “where exceptional performance, improved bearing reliability and increased thermal life are primary concerns” say the group. The CX series gearboxes are designed to operate at extremely high defined levels of torque, speed, power and thermal ratings – exceeding competitor performance and representing a new, unique best-in-class model, according to David Brown.

The advanced technologies of the CX series provide key product solutions for mining operations, including up to four times longer bearing life; up to 20% greater thermal capacity, reducing the need for ancillary cooling equipment; precision gear tooth profiles reducing noise and maximising power transfer; optimised rugged cast housing with superior power to weight ratio; and a unique flippable design with modular mounting options. The CX series has been field verified in one of the world’s most remote locations, the Australian Pilbara iron ore region, operating in ports and mines with ambient temperatures exceeding 45ºC. All field and rig test experience has been further verified by state-of-the-art analysis.

Ian Chew, Director – Mining at David Brown told IM: “We’re very excited to showcase the CX series to the mining industry and strongly believe that it represents the best optimised capacities for conveying drives on the market today. It has already been proven to be extremely reliable and low in maintenance and stands to make a significant and positive impact in mining operations.”
