Stantec lead sponsor for IM Hall of Fame 2014

International Mining is pleased to welcome Stantec as the major sponsor of this year’s International Mining Technology Hall of Fame – the only global Hall of Fame in the industry that recognises the achievements of technical innovators in mining, both past and present. Stantec will co-host the gala dinner at which the 2014 inductions will be made. This event, being held at the Brown Palace Hotel on Monday February 16, 2015 in Denver, Colorado, during the SME 2015 Annual Meeting, is supported by both the SME and CMA – see www.im-halloffame.com for more details.

Stantec’s Sandy Watson, Vice President, Regional Business Leader & Sector Leader, Mining for US and International, states: “We are proud to support the International Mining Technology Hall of Fame this year. Creativity and innovation are essential to our industry, providing us with new techniques and technologies to acquire the earth’s resources safely and efficiently. It is people who fuel this creativity and innovation and we’re happy to celebrate the people who’ve made a difference in the global mining community.”

Stantec is a consulting group with global reach and vast experience at all parts of the mining process. Watson told IM: “Every day, we help clients acquire the earth’s resources for the global communities who need them. From front end studies to mine closure and reclamation, our Mining team has exposure to a wide variety of commodities—gold, silver, nickel, copper, zinc, potash, diamonds, coal, platinum, uranium, aggregate, iron ore, and more – in diverse work locations spanning over 20 countries, from Mexico to Mongolia. Our team includes specialists in mining engineering, project management, environmental services, mine water and waste management, power engineering, geotechnical services, transportation engineering and logistics, architecture and buildings engineering, surveying, and community engagement and indigenous outreach.”

There is still time to send nominations for the 2014 inductees but we need to receive them by the end of August at the latest. International Mining Founder and Publisher John Chadwick will be sending out the shortlist of nominations to our panel of international judges shortly thereafter and asking for their votes by the end of September. There are 15 inductee categories of ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT AND STEWARDSHIP, EXPLORATION, UNDERGROUND DEVELOPMENT, UNDERGROUND LOAD & HAUL, UNDERGROUND PRODUCTION, UNDERGROUND SUPPORT, SURFACE PRODUCTION, SURFACE LOAD & HAUL, BULK HANDLING, SAFETY, MINING SOFTWARE, COMMINUTION, CONCENTRATION, EXTRACTIVE METALLURGY and OUTSTANDING INNOVATOR.
