Atlas Copco and AcQuire to help analyse samples while drilling

A new partnership between acQuire and Atlas Copco is set to provide a better way to derive value from drilling equipment. By integrating the powerful data management tools produced by acQuire with Atlas Copco’s drill rigs, geoscience professionals can begin to assess and analyse sampling in real time. This new integration between Geoscientific Information Management and the drill rig means the value of a borehole can be realised quicker than ever before.

acQuire Technology Solutions, global specialist in Geoscientific Information Management (GIM), and Atlas Copco have announced a partnership to integrate acQuire’s GIM solution with Atlas Copco’s OREAlyzer technology.

Drill rigs will be capable of analysing minerals during the drilling process with Atlas Copco’s new OREAlyzer product. The collaboration between the two companies allows miners to use acQuire’s technology to create and materialise the value from the drilling equipment in real time. The result is an immediate understanding of the potential of a borehole that helps geologists and business managers make more effective decisions.

“Partnering with Atlas Copco is exciting because our combined effort gives miners a totally new capability,” says Steve Mundell, Director Research at acQuire. “Analysing the commodity with information taken directly from the drill rig speeds up the entire process and makes it more efficient.”

“We’re looking forward to working with acQuire because they provide excellent technology to many of our mining customers,” says Olav Kvist, Product Line Manager at Atlas Copco’s Surface and Exploration Drilling Division. “Managing assays and other related data is key to effectively defining ore grade boundaries and material routing destinations.”

acQuire and Atlas Copco are currently advancing the product integration toward a field testing stage.  The partnership agreement also makes provisions for the creation of a combined development and support strategy, which will allow for future projects.
