PDAC sees ARANZ Geo celebrate a decade of Leapfrog 3D

ARANZ Geo, the developer of Leapfrog 3D geological modelling solutions for the mining, hydrogeology and geothermal industries, celebrated 10 years of 3D implicit modelling with Leapfrog at the PDAC mining investment convention in Toronto. Shaun Maloney, ARANZ Geo’s CEO says: “Leapfrog sets the standard in geological modelling. PDAC is a great event to show off demos of our new release features, Leapfrog Geo 2.1 and 2.0, and new offerings such as our consultant on demand licences. We’re also making available copies of the ARANZ Geo sponsored book Unearthing 3D Implicit Modelling.”

ARANZ Geo, a leader in the interpretation and visualisation of geological data for the mining, environmental, renewable energy and other geologically dependent industries, developed Leapfrog a decade ago. The very first geological modelling tool of its kind, Leapfrog is now an indispensable tool to reduce risk associated with geological modelling and is relied on by the top ten mining and exploration firms to enable better decision making.

Leapfrog Geo 2.1 heralded the start of the Leapfrog Partner Programme for advanced interoperability with leading partners including geostats tool Snowden Supervisor, geographic mapping and analysis application MapInfo Discover from Pitney Bowes and geographic information system Esri ArcGIS. Maloney says, “Snowden Supervisor gives Leapfrog Geo 2.1 users the ability to combine the speed and power of Leapfrog’s FastRBF™ engine for grade interpolation, with the confidence that geostatistical analysis offers. You can expect even more interoperability to come.”

Leapfrog Geo 2.0 is a major release, offering vein modelling “far superior to anything else on the market.” Users can model curved or folded vein systems that branch or terminate within the intuitive ‘vein systems’ workflow. Narrow geological units such as dykes or shear zones can also be modelled within this new workflow.

Unearthing 3D implicit modelling, which is can viewed at www.leapfrog3d.com/ebook is a Leapfrog sponsored publication that looks at 10 years of implicit modelling and how it continues to change the industry. The book contains valuable insights, comments and opinions from industry experts whose day job brings them into direct contact with the various modelling software packages, tools, methodologies and outputs.
