ThyssenKrupp reports that with the acquisition of Maxx Engineering in Australia at the beginning of April 2015, it further strengthened its position in the service market. The Pilbara region in northwest Australia “has some of the world’s biggest iron ore deposits and against a background of growing demand for more efficient products and solutions offers growth potential for the service business of ThyssenKrupp Resource Technologies.”

Maxx Engineering is a mechanical engineering services business based in Port Hedland and servicing all the Pilbara Region. It is a modern and fully equipped mechanical engineering workshop that can design, fabricate and install metal work up to about 20 t. Under the terms of agreement, Maxx Engineering will continue to operate without changes to its name and continue to service its existent client base with machine maintenance support, breakdown service and emergency repairs. Following the deal, the business has received a contract worth over A$2 million to provide pre-cast footings, formation access stairs, bridge access stairs and safety handrails for bridge sites between Port Headland and the customer. The company will assemble and install the equipment to ensure bridges are fully operational to allow trains to commence transporting ore.
