Mining industry interest in renewable energy sources

One of the articles in International Mining’s September issue focuses on power for remote mines, and looks in particular at renewable energies. So it is interesting to note a well-known Australian engineering company, that does a lot of work in mining, Monadelphous Group, reaching an agreement with renewable energy specialist, ZEM Energy, to form a new incorporated joint venture, Zenviron.

Zenviron brings together the complementary strengths of Monadelphous’ multidisciplinary engineering and construction capabilities and ZEM Energy’s technical experience, design capabilities and long-term industry relationships.

Monadelphous Managing Director, Rob Velletri, said the formation of Zenviron is a key milestone in his company’s strategy to extend services into new infrastructure markets. “The team at ZEM Energy have extensive experience in the Australian renewables sector, having had direct involvement in close to half of Australia’s 35 large scale wind farm developments. Through our partnership with ZEM Energy, we are well placed to deliver a share of the estimated 6,000 MW of new renewable energy capacity to be built by 2020”.
