The new Liebherr T 236 mining truck and more at MINExpo

The exhibition saw the first product presentation of the new Liebherr 100 t truck to the public and the introduction of Liebherr Litronic Plus Generation 2 technology, building on 10 years’ proven application of vertically integrated electric drive technologies.

The T 236 demonstrates the company’s continued innovation in design, paired with the evolution of Liebherr’s own high quality components and technology leadership. This combination, the company says, “results in increased productivity, better efficiency, enhanced reliability and improved safety, while lowering the cost per tonne.

Capitalizing on decades of proven experience in off highway truck technologies, the T 236 takes advantage of Liebherr’s electric drive system innovations with the introduction of the vertically integrated Litronic Plus Generation 2 AC drive system.

This revolutionary machine provides the industry with a new benchmark in the 100 t class for off highway haul trucks: focusing on top performance, maximum uptime and lowest possible operating costs. All components are designed and built to perform and last in the most extreme mining conditions. As a result, it says, “Liebherr trucks run much longer between component overhauls, saving time and money.

At MINExpo also, Liebherr showcased the ultra-class T 284 mining truck available with new features and options. Millions of operating hours and decades of design experience have come together to create the T 284 ultra-class mining truck. It offers the highest payload in the industry. With intelligently designed systems and components, the T 284 serves as the platform for future advances in mining truck technology.

There was a new entry into the 200-t excavator class shown for the first time in the USA: the R 9200, built to complement the broad Liebherr mining product range. The 12.5-m³ bucket is the largest in its class, and offers sustainable performance while delivering peak fuel burn efficiency, even in the most challenging conditions. This world-class mining excavator is designed to match mining trucks with payloads of up to 140 t.

Liebherr’s first crawler tractor in the 70-t class – the new PR 776 – was also presented for the first time in the USA. It is designed for tough mining operations. The PR 776 is powered by a Liebherr 12-cylinder diesel engine developing up to 565 kW. It has a maximum operating weight of 74 t and is equipped with blade capacities of 18.5 m³ (semi-U blade) or 22 m³ (U blade).
