SDLG celebrates double award success

Leading Chinese equipment manufacturer SDLG is celebrating after the company received two awards for its commitment to environmental protection. SDLG, the construction brand produced by leading Chinese equipment manufacturer Shandong Lingong Construction Machinery Co., Ltd (known as Lingong), was awarded the Green Leadership Award and the Corporate Social Responsibility Award at the 2016 China Charity Festival in Beijing. Established in 2011, the China Charity Festival aims to promote charitable spirit and actions. SDLG was recognized for its longstanding commitment to environmental conservation and charity campaigns. The judging panel consisted of academics as well as representatives from charities, renowned research institutions and media outlets.

“As a pioneer of energy efficient technology in China, SDLG is actively working to reduce its environmental footprint,” says Wen Degang, General Manager of SDLG. “We are proud to say that the company has made significant progress towards making its products more environmentally friendly. Our partnership with WWF has magnified our environmental effort.”

Back in 2007, SDLG initiated an energy saving research project which resulted in the company’s first-generation of energy-saving wheel loaders being launched in 2009. The machines consumed 10% less fuel than similar products. In 2012, the company continued its environmental mission by signing a partnership agreement with WWF. SDLG became the first construction equipment company in China to pledge and successfully reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1.65 Mt in three years. Next came the company’s Top Driver program, where SDLG organizes theoretical and practical tests for operators and offers free-of-change professional training for those beginning a career in equipment operation. The program aims to improve safety and operator efficiency but last year, an environmental aspect was introduced and participants took part in a tree-planting event. Recently, in response to the tier 3 legislation, SDLG rolled out its latest F-Series machines which help to reduce emissions.

“SDLG will continue to take the lead in reducing carbon dioxide emissions,” says Wen. “In the next five years, SDLG will invest more than 300 million renminbi in a smart manufacturing project in partnership with the School of Software of Tsinghua University. The project aims to establish intelligent plants in pursuit of zero emissions in production. Recently SDLG was named ‘Best Corporate Citizen in Shandong province’ and ranked one of the top 10 socially responsible corporations in Linyi. We hope other companies start to take similar steps to help protect our environment.”

“SDLG machines have proven to be reliable and cost effective on road projects across India,” said Sanu George, Business Head, SDLG India. “The trust our road building customers have in us will most likely to transfer to other sectors. In future, we expect to see our machines used in quarries or other applications.”

SDLG’s commitment to charity extends far beyond its equipment business. To date, Shandong Lingong has established three Hope primary schools in Xinjiang, Anshan and Sichuan. Organized by the China Youth Development Foundation (CYDF) and the Communist Youth League (CYL) Central Committee, Project Hope is a Chinese public service project which aims to establish schools in poverty-stricken, rural areas in China so children can complete their elementary school education.

Lingong is one of the world’s leading suppliers (by volume) of wheel loaders. The company’s headquarters are in Linyi, China and it has an additional manufacturing facility in Pederneiras, Brazil.
