Digitalisation conference in Astana aims at increasing Kazakh mining competitiveness

An international mining conference titled Digital Transformation and Innovation in Mining (April, 18-19, 2017) in Astana, Kazakhstan was described by participant and organiser VIST Group as a significant event for the mining industry, and was organised in cooperation with Nazarbaev University, the Eurasian Technological Platform and Association of Mining Enterprises of Kazakhstan (AGMP) and VIST Group.

During the conference, an investment transaction between VIST Group and the Russia-Kazakhstan nanotechnological foundation (part of Kazyna Capital Management, asubsidiary company of the Natianal Management Holding Baiterek) was announced. The investment is aimed at the development of new mining robotics technology, underground dispatch product development and opening of a local office in Kazakhstan.

Most of the conference was dedicated to the exchange of experiences in IT technologies deployment in mining industry. Specialists of the biggest mining companies in the former CIS countries – SUEK, Azot Mining Service, Stoylensky GOK, Uzbekugol, EuroChem Karatau, EN+ – gave presentations during the event, as well as IT solutions suppliers such as VIST Group, SAP, ABB, Accenture, KONSOM.

VIST told IM: “The conference is expected to become the catalyst of the transformation process of the Kazakhstan mining industry for maintaining its competitive strength on the international markets.”
