Gekko Systems International Mining Technology Hall of Fame Comminution sponsor

We are pleased to welcome Gekko Systems as the sponsor of the Comminution induction to the International Mining Technology Hall Of Fame. The induction awards for both 2015 and 2016 will be made at the Brown Palace Hotel, Denver, on February 20 at a gala dinner during SME Conference week.

Gekko’s own Sandy Gray, Technical Director, is the 2015 Concentration inductee. He is a co-founder and is responsible for the technical, sales, and research and development teams. He has a background in mine management and over 15 years experience in mineral processing operations. Since founding Gekko he has rejuvenated the art of gravity separation of alluvial gold using the basis of panning. Sandy is a world leader in gravity gold and leaching flowsheets design, materials handling and effective plant design.

Fred Bond is the 2015 Comminution inductee, Bond is synonymous with grinding circuit design, e.g. Bond Grindability and Bond Work Index.

Nominations to be considered this summer by the global panel of judges for the 2016 inductee include:

  • Joe Pease and and Dr Bill Johnson for the IsaMill
  • Dr John Russell, Russell Mineral Equipment
  • John Starkey, inventor of the SAGDesign test
  • Samuel Calvin McLanahan (1842-1928) who changed the direction of his family’s company to become a leading manufacturer of mineral processing equipment
  • Klas-Göran Eriksson and Tage Möller for the Metso Megaliner, reputedly the safest mill lining system of its kind
  • Steve Morrell for his work in AG/SAG milling
  • Stuart Jones for his work in grinding mills.
