Nordic Minesteel acquires Specialized Maintenance Equipment

North Bay, Ontario-based Nordic Minesteel Technologies Inc (NMT), experts in horizontal and vertical solutions for mining, have announced the acquisition of Specialized Maintenance Equipment, enhancing safety and increasing equipment availability for haul trucks and shovels. The acquisition will enable NMT to further expand its diverse range of custom designed equipment solutions.

Specialized Maintenance Equipment (SME) offers advanced solutions to the international mining industry. They offer high-tech, heavy duty equipment that provides fast, effective and safe tooling used to maintain truck and shovel equipment.

SME shipped its first piece of revolutionary equipment in September to a site in South America. The SLT220 jack system is designed to keep operators safe by using a remote control to easily drive under the chassis of a haul truck and with a single lift, elevate a complete axle of a 240-400 short ton truck. The SLT220 uses the latest hydraulic and electronic technology to transform into a certified safety stand eliminating the need for secondary supports. Tyre maintenance time onsite is reduced, increasing truck availability.

“These specialised pieces of equipment are designed to enhance safety standards for mine personnel and increase the rate of return for stakeholders.” Wayne Desormeau, Global Product Manager, Specialized Maintenance Equipment.
