Inspirations’17 was IntelliSense.io’s flagship customer experience event aiming to bring together leading digital technology companies whose solutions have potential applications for the mining industry, along with the industry itself. Held on 26 and 27 October at the Moller Centre at Churchill College in Cambridge, the event kick-starts a series “showcasing the art of possibility of technologies which have been successful in other industries and can be applied in mining to solve some of the intractable challenges faced by the industry.”
The Inspirations series IntelliSense.io says “are designed as a learning platform, with interactive sessions bringing together world’s leading technologist and implementers from across industries to discover, unlock, and potentially co-create technologies and approaches to use new data-driven insights and decision making across the mining industry value chain. This is essential to transform the future of mining and make a step change in efficiency, sustainability, and safety.”
Inspirations ‘17 hosted executives from both FTSE 100 Chilean Mining Major Antofagasta Minerals and Marubeni Holdings, together with the Kazakhstan National Innovation Agency which were complemented by eight leading digital technology companies participating as innovators. Technologies showcased ranged from automation for transport, 3D printing and metal powder for spare parts as well as next-generation geosciences for better characterisation of the rock being drilled, blasted and hauled, and using next-generation decision analytics tools in the form of machine learning and Artificial Intelligence to make better operational decisions across the value chain.
Eight leading technology companies namely Zeiss, Metalysis, Satellite Applications Catapult, Tharsus, Ubisense, iMin Solutions, Grinding Solutions, and IdeaDrop, joined IntelliSense.io “to provide the mining supplier ecosystem in the event contributing with their expertise in, amongst others, the fields of robotics & automation, mineralogical analysis and sensing, innovation management software, plant process optimisation, location services, and remote sensing.”
