Innovation in concentration – what is the best development?

We will be closing the nominations for the International Mining Technology Hall of Fame in August. Do you know of someone who has contributed an important innovation or invention, recent or historic, to concentration – ore sorting, flotation, etc.? Contact [email protected] about nominations.

The chosen nominees will be inducted at the International Mining Technology Hall of Fame gala dinner at the Hyatt Regency at Colorado Convention Center, Denver on February 25, 2019. The dinner is a key event in the SME Annual Conference week.

The current shortlist has three nominations in this category. The first is for Barry Carlson of Hatch, finding new ways to make the most of heap-leach pads and processes. The second is for John Dorr who developed and patented the Dorr Classifier (and the Dorr continuous thickener and the Dorr agitato). The third current nomination is for Olivier Guyot, creator of the OCS© software, leader in advanced control for mineral processing optimisation. He has also created a series of revolutionary vision (VisioFroth™, VisioRock™) and audio-based (AudioMill™) sensors.

The last inductee was Dr D.R.Nagaraj (Nag) who has more than 35 years of outstanding and innovative achievements in the design, development and commercialisation of numerous families of novel flotation reagents http://www.im-halloffame.com/concentration-2/

There is a total of 12 categories and nominations are welcomed for all of them: Bulk Handling, Concentration, Comminution, Exploration, Environmental Management and Stewardship, Metallurgy, Mining Software, Safety, Surface Mining, Underground Development, Underground Production and Outstanding Innovator.
