Kazakh-British Center for Technological Development IntelliSense – LAB

Today at the World Mining Congress in Astana, the Autonomous Cluster Fund (Tech Garden) presented the Center for Technological Development IntelliSense – LAB. The Center was founded by ACF in partnership with IntelliSense.io (UK) for the development and implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies oriented to the mining and metallurgical sector of Kazakhstan.

During the congress, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between IntelliSense Lab and JSC AK Altynalmas. The cooperation is aimed at the introduction of Industry 4.0 technologies in accordance with the National Digitization Plan to support the Kazakhstan National Digital Roadmap. The document was signed by Zhanar Amanzholova, head of the development and innovation department of JSC AK Altynalmas and Medet Sartbayev, General Director of IntelliSense-LAB.

Cooperation involves the development of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) system for predictive analysis and optimization of the ‘grinding unit’ process: predictions of the technological process of grinding in real time; prediction of lining deterioration inside the mills; quality control of crushed ore and situational prediction of crushed products; visualization of the grinding cycle in real time; performance goals (KPIs) of throughput increase.

“We are excited that Altynalmas are our first partner in the Kazakhstan National Digital Roadmap. The National Digitization Plan will put Kazakhstan at the forefront of Industry 4.0 technology development. Partnering with such a prestigious company as Altynalmas demonstrates how beneficial this technology is for mining and other industrial sectors,” says Sam G. Bose, CEO and Founder of IntelliSense.io.

Creation of technology centers in priority sectors of the economy is carried out by ACF in accordance with the 63rd step of the “Plan of the Nation” of the Head of State. The partners of the centers are leading multinational corporations, which invest at least 50% in their creation. Cooperation with the leading subsoil user such as JSC AK Altynalmas will be the first major project for IntelliSense – LAB, the main activities of which are:

  • Development of five platforms in the following areas: MMC, NGS, logistics, fuel and energy complex, machine building with involvement of domestic companies
  • Incubation of products developed by startups and IT companies within the national “Industry 4.0” platform
  • Training of specialists in the methods of working with “Industry 4.0” solutions.

The Center will work on:

  • Creation of the national “Industry 4.0” platform for the development of digitization applications within 5 sectors of the economy
  • Implementation and support of solutions for applying AI as part of the digitalization of the Industrial processes
  • Training of specialists in methods of big data analysis, modeling and optimization of processes.

The national platform will be used by IT companies in Kazakhstan and startups to develop digitalization applications. The lab will cooperate with leading universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan in such innovative areas as big data applications in process optimization and AI applications. Cooperation will also be aimed at training qualified Kazakhstani personnel in the above areas. The Center will employ high-end Data Science specialists, application engineers (experts in five sectors), IT specialists (administrators, software developers, software and hardware development engineers). The main technology partners are companies such as ARM (UK) and OSI Soft (USA).
