Redpath Australia to design & construct new ventilation shaft at BMA Broadmeadow

Redpath Australia has announced that BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA; BHP 50% Mitsubishi 50%) have selected Redpath Australia Coal as their preferred contractor for the Ventilation Shaft Construction Contract, at the Broadmeadow Mine in Queensland. Redpath Managing Director, Gavin Ramage commented saying: “We look forward to working closely with BMA in delivering this project safely and efficiently.”

Broadmeadow is a punch longwall underground coal mine, located 30 km north of Moranbah in Queensland. The scope includes the design and construction of the ventilation shaft and is due to commence in the third quarter of 2020. The operation uses the longwall top coal caving method with coal is conveyed from the mine to a stockpile area at the top of the ramp, where it is trucked to the Goonyella wash plant.
