Rio Tinto boosts blasthole drill rig fleet with Epiroc order

Epiroc, a leading productivity and sustainability partner for the mining and infrastructure industries, has won a significant order from Rio Tinto for mining equipment to be used in the company’s iron ore mines in the Pilbara region in Australia.

Rio Tinto, one of the world’s largest global mining companies, is operating a highly advanced integrated network of iron ore mines in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The mining company has ordered new Pit Viper 271 and SmartROC D65 drill rigs. The overall order exceeds MSEK130 in value and was booked in the first quarter of 2021.
