Sandvik follows up new battery DS412iE bolter with the diesel DS412i model

Following the launch of its battery-electric DS412iE bolter at MINExpo 2021, Sandvik Mining & Rock Solutions has now also introduced its diesel counterpart, the Sandvik DS412i. The company states: “While electrification is undoubtedly the future of mining, we recognise that BEVs are not always the best fit for your operational requirements. DS412i offers the familiarity and comfort of knowing exactly how your bolter will perform, while still being the best in class with its automation, safety and ergonomic features.”

Sandvik DS412i is a bolter for 4.5 m x 4.5 m size headings combining a safe, ergonomic working environment with high levels of performance. The i-Class platform offers various levels of automation for rock support drilling. The high level of data collection during bolting allows to better know how drifts and tunnels are supported with possibility to document it.

It is equipped with a completely new carrier, high frequency rock drill, new control system and an ergonomic cabin. “The DS412i offers high levels of safety and efficiency providing peace of mind for all rock reinforcement operations.” Cited advantages include up to 90% automatic bolting using one-bolt automation; higher rock reinforcement quality through assistive and automatic technologies connectivity plus a wide range of bolt types and lengths, including a combination of automatic cement mixer and automatic resin injection. It has a modern and ergonomic cabin, offers high parts commonality through the 400i-Class and has excellent serviceability, says Sandvik.
