3D-P begins complete network upgrade at Wyoming coal mine

3D-P says it has been selected to perform a complete network overhaul at a major Wyoming coal mine. To meet the demand for coal, the customer is increasing its fleet size. This expansion requires an improved, highly reliable network.

“Partnering with our customer, we developed a cost-effective plan that incorporates their existing infrastructure. This sustainable approach has allowed the mine to utilise its previous capital expenditure, rather than having to recycle and repurpose older technology.”

3D-P has over 20 years of experience in communications for heavy industrial applications. “As experts in this field, we realise there is no all-encompassing solution for deploying a wireless network for outdoor industrial environments. We are proud to be vendor agnostic, tailoring each network/deployment with fit-for-purpose hardware from a multitude of vendors.”

Continuously changing topology, interference, contention, and security issues can make for challenging deployments. “As such, our network philosophy is to take a phased approach. We first understand the environment. Next, we take a deep dive into existing and future applications the mine’s network will need to support. Lastly, and with the customer, we select the best technology to achieve our client’s needs within their budget. For this mine, 3D-P is deploying a peer-to-peer meshing solution, allowing them to have increased coverage and connectivity, ensuring better data tracking and metrics for years to come.”
