Dundee Precious Metals’ Chelopech mine has selected Gemcom InSite as its mine production management solution for its mining and processing operation. Chelopech is an underground gold, silver, and copper mining and processing operation located in Bulgaria. It is deploying InSite to support its initiative of doubling its yearly production of ore. InSite will be used as an integrated production management solution for shift reporting and analysis. It will also act as the central monitoring and control system for the mine and provide metals balancing and accounting for the site and its smelter.“We selected InSite as our mine production management solution because of Gemcom’s partnership approach to understanding our goals and objectives as we seek to expand production,” said Rick Howes, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Dundee Precious Metals Inc. “InSite provides the tools that will help us improve efficiencies across the operation, including metal balance from the block model through to final product. This will create synergies between the mine and the mill, resulting in productivity gains such as improved equipment utilisation and greater throughput.”
“Chelopech joins sites around the world that are turning to Gemcom InSite for the capabilities they need to improve the performance of their mines and processing facilities to meet their business objectives,” said Allen Vaughn, executive vice president of Gemcom’s enterprise business unit. “The partnership approach we take with our customers and the award-winning InSite’s software with its breadth of capabilities allows us to tailor solutions that answer the unique needs of different companies and mining operations.”
The InSite deployment at Chelopech will also be integrated with technology developed in collaboration between Gemcom and Sandvik, which provides a system and interface for monitoring underground mobile equipment. This will enable Chelopech to track their production, equipment, and personnel metrics in a simple and effective manner and provide them with hard data to inform business decisions for things like capital equipment expenditures.
