DF Ecology fights dust at Teck’s Carmen de Andacollo copper mine

special-df-in-chile31.jpgDF Ecology, the Italian producer of environmentally focussed equipment, recently responded to an appeal by Carmen de Andacollo for an individually designed Dustfighter. The request came via DF Ecology’s official Chilean dealer, Dust Control S.A. The Dustfighter produces a fine mist of water through a series of high-pressure jets, propelled onto the site by a powerful fan, covering a wide area in just a few moments.

Carmen de Andacollo had been impressed with the general performance of the Dustfighter product, but needed some additional components to meet with its specific requirements. In close consultation with Dust Control S.A., DF Ecology engineers set about designing the Dustfighter Super Tank, which incorporates an extra large water tank and hydraulic elevating platform that helps to precisely direct the Dustfighters’ fine water spray. The large water tank ensures continuous operation. Power is provided from an integral, super-silenced, diesel generator and the complete unit was mounted onto an eight-wheeled tow trailer.

As mines generate a high volume of dust when loading earth, rocks and ore on haulers and during crushing, so the DF Ecology range of dust suppressors helps inhibit the dust pollution arising.

During March 2012, Daniele Crepaldi the After Sales Manager for Tower Light/DF Ecology arrived in Chile to meet with Dust Control S.A. Crepaldi visited five Chilean mining companies, accompanied by Claudio Escobar, manager of Dust Control S.A. alongside Marcelo Bilbao (technician) and Claudio Dañino (sales manager).

They visited Anglo American El Soldado, Carmen De Andacollo, Los Pelambres, Lomas Bayas and Codelco and carried out a live demonstration demonstrating a Dust Fighter 20000, the latest model from DF Ecology dust suppression range. “All were impressed with dust suppression qualities and ease of use of the Dustfighter,” the company says.
