Novariant, a technology provider for precision machinery, and Flanders Electric, a provider of components, systems and services for mining, will be hosting a free online webinar titled Get More from Your Drills; Upgrade to Semi-Autonomous Drilling. The webinars will focus on how surface mines operating blast hole drills can eliminate drilling errors, reduce downtime, and improve operator performance by upgrading existing drill rigs to ARDVARCTM drill automation system with a TerraliteTM XPS system for precision positioning. The first webinar will be held on February 10, 2009, and repeated on February 18, March 5, and March 18, 2009, with times varying to allow for international attendance.
These online educational sessions are designed for mine companies that want to improve the performance of their existing drill rigs and drill rig operators. The 45 minute online session will cover the impact of semi-autonomous drills on productivity, labour, and maintenance; return on investment considerations; advantages Flanders Electric’s ARDVARC drill automation; GPS positioning challenges and GPS augmentation solutions; and an overview of Novariant’s Terralite XPS system.
According to the webinar producers, the sessions keep Blast and Drill Managers, Mine Managers, Technology Managers, Operations Managers, Engineering Managers, and Maintenance Managers up to date on new technology that improves mine productivity while their travel budgets to attend exhibitions and conferences are restricted during the global financial situation.
According to Novariant, its Terralite XPS technology plays a key role in providing GPS augmentation for high-precision machine control and guidance applications, including enabling the full utilisation of ARDVARC drill automation systems in deep open-pit operations. The ARDVARC system’s one-button control and auto-propel is simple to use and allows quick deployment of operators with minimal training. The Terralite XPS and ARDVARC solution provides ease of operation and consistent, accurate drilling using high-precision GPS coordinates across the mine’s fleet of rotary drills.
