Sandvik Mining and Construction has had a major order from China Shenhua Energy’s Shendong coal production centre. The contract includes a total of seven low-profile Sandvik Bolter Miners MB670 to be supplied to the operation during 2010, with delivery commencing in May. The MB670 is equipped to simultaneously cut a rectangular shaped roadway and install roof and rib bolts. It can be operated at top speeds in modern development layouts thanks to its ability to cut and install roof support in simultaneous operations.
Coal mines in China are among the world leaders in achieving top performances. Advance rates of 50 m/d using a Sandvik Bolter Miner are commonly reached. Shendong Coal Branch is a major coal-production company owned by China Shenhua Energy and is responsible for the development and construction of the Shenfu Dongsheng Mining Area in the border zones of the southern part of Inner Mongolia and the north of the Shaanxi province, as well as the Baode coal mine in the Shanxi province of China.
