Tenova TAKRAF was recently awarded a new order by Vale for an iron ore stacker to be installed at Ponta de Madeira Terminal, Brazil. It has also recently signed a contract for the turnkey supply of a ship loader and a conveyor system with Soc Nationale Industrielle et Minière (SNIM), in Mauritania. The new ship loader has an iron ore capacity of 12,000 t/h and is part of an ambitious program aiming to the expansion of the company mine in Zouerate. Ore, mined since 1963, is transported by rail from Zouerate mine to the Nouadhibou terminal for export.
The SNIM loader will be constructed by Tenova TAKRAF Italy and transported to the port, almost fully erected, on a special ship equipped with the necessary hoisting equipment. The conveyor system and ancillary equipment will be built by Tenova TAKRAF Germany. The contract, which includes civil works in addition to mechanical supplies, is expected to be completed in 30 months.
Under the Vale order, Tenova TAKRAF is to supply on a turnkey basis a new giant iron ore stacker with a 55 m boom – nominal capacity of 16,000 t/h and project capacity of 20,000 t/h. The machine which is expected to be delivered in 730 days represents a further success for Tenova TAKRAF under Vale’s plans to expand the Ponta de Madeira terminal in São Luís to 130 Mt/y.
