Improved ring design tool from Minesight brightens underground work

An answer to the repetitive chore of creating ring designs for underground mining in planes of any orientation is at hand with this week’s release of the improved MineSight Ring Design tool. The tool appears as part of MineSight 9.2, which includes a variety of enhancements, including the improved MineSight Implicit Modeler, new properties dialogs and updated icons. Version 9.2 features a complete overhaul of the properties dialog, improved 2D rendering performance, new display options in Drillhole Views, changes to Model View Properties and the Plot Layout Editor.

The improved Ring Design tool simplifies and streamlines the process of dealing with multiple planes. Now you can quickly and efficiently generate enhanced, detailed reports required by the drill and blast crew to fulfil its designs.

Other key improvements allow you to:

  • Select heading and stope solids. Once the solids are selected, the tool will dynamically create heading and drilling region slices
  • Select a centreline and create planes along centreline at a given distance
  • Create planes at a dump angle (tilted non-orthogonal planes).

The Ring Design tool is one of several MineSight products designed to ease underground mine evaluation and underground mine engineering tasks.

An improved Implicit Modeler is part of today’s 9.2 release and with it comes true thickness logic for stratigraphic modelling. MineSight Implicit Modeler Version 1.5 also features dual contouring for complex surfaces, closed solids and the ability to edit grids for defined anisotropy.
