BELAZ demonstrates autonomous mine truck and more

The abilities of an unmanned BELAZ mine truck were demonstrated during a science and technology conference held in Zhodino, April 23-24, to highlight the latest achievements of the Belarusian automobile engineering company BELAZ. According to BELAZ representatives, for the first time the company demonstrated abilities of the autonomous BELAZ 75131 truck being loaded by a BELAZ 78250 wheel loader. The company also demonstrated the steering and driving capabilities of the BELAZ 75710 truck, which can carry 450 t of material.

BELAZ says it is continuing to modernise the manufacturing process, installing high-tech equipment. The aim is to improve the quality of products and master the production of new vehicles that better suit the needs of customers.

In the last three years specialists of BELAZ’s R&D division in association with academic institutions and universities of Belarus and Russia have developed a number of science-intensive projects. Three of the projects were demonstrated to participants of the science and technology conference. The first project expanded the possible applications of the electromechanical transmission for mine trucks with a lower carrying capacity. The second project is a BELAZ autonomous truck, which is capable of carrying 130 t along a designated route. The vehicle relies on a high-precision satellite navigation system facilitated by GPS/GLONASS. The third project is the BELAZ 75710 with the highest carrying capacity.

The conference BELAZ 2015: Real-Time Development focussed on ways to improve the effectiveness of cooperation between the Belarussian automaker, partners, who supply components, BELAZ customers, and scientific organisations, which research products are implemented in new BELAZ vehicles. The forum gathered representatives of 23 countries, where BELAZ vehicles are used. On the first day of the conference negotiations were held with representatives of mining companies and related enterprises. The conference was organised by the public joint-stock company BELAZ, the managing company of BELAZ Holding.
