Tenova Delkor equipment for Asanko gold project

Solid/liquid separation and mineral processing specialist, Tenova Delkor, was contracted to supply a 32 m2 belt linear screen for Adansi Gold (Ghana)’s Asanko gold project. The contract was placed by DRA Minerals, the engineering contractor for the project, and covers the supply of the carbon safety screen for the Asanko CIL gold plant.

The Tenova Delkor belt linear screen will be one of the largest installed in the company’s range (with designs up to 40 m2) and will be supplied with frames and steel sections in bolted construction, in order to optimise the design for transportation. The entire unit fits snuggly into 40 ft containers for transport from the Tenova Delkor manufacturing facility in Bangalore, India to the project site in Ghana. The bolted construction also allows for ease of installation on site, with little or no welding required.

Once installed, the screen provides additional recovery of carbon at the end of the CIL circuit, before reporting to tailings. The unit is of mild steel construction and is fitted with a premium efficiency motor and a full complement of instrumentation. Spray bars mounted at various positions provide exceptional cleaning and prevention of mass build-up.

The Asanko project, based on the Obotan gold project, is a greenfields project covering the construction of the CIL gold plant. The plant processes ore from the Nkran, Adubiaso, Abore and Asuadai deposits, with future plans to treat the nearby Esaase deposit.

This belt linear screen was developed through extensive test work, to solve a major problem in the CIP/CIL process – the effective removal of waste material from slurries. The unit is capable of screening between 150 and 2,000 microns, and is widely accepted by the mining industry for the removal of tramp material from fine mineral or chemical slurries. This screen operates with no vibration, preventing realignment of oversize material with the cloth aperture, ensuring retention of all oversize material.
