Posted on 4 Jun 2007

DCD-Dorbyl Heavy Engineering of Vereeniging in South Africa, a specialist manufacturer of engineered products for tailor-made application in the materials-handling, metallurgical and petrochemical industries, has received an order from Metso Australia for a 32 x 20 ft SAG and two 22 x 40 ft ball mill shells.

The mills are destined for Xstrata’s Mount Isa mine in Queensland, Australia, and form part of a €20-million order to supply grinding, crushing and screening equipment. Both the SAG mill and ball mills will have a dual drive (2 x 5,750 kW), while the order also includes a cone crusher and a discharge vibrating screen, complemented by installation services and spare parts.

The equipment is intended as part of the Zinc-Lead Concentrator Revamp Project. This will boost mineral ore throughput and increase the reliability of the grinding circuit.
