50 years of lignite production

North American Coal Corp last week celebrated 50 years of lignite coal production, which began in July 1957 when the company acquired the Indian Head Mine in North Dakota. “We are excited to celebrate our 50th anniversary of producing lignite,” said North American’s President and CEO Robert Benson. “The talent, initiative, and passion of the employees of North American Coal have been central to the development of our lignite surface mining and reclamation operations.”
