Call for ventilation knowledge

The 12th North American Mine Ventilation Symposium will be held at John Ascuaga’s Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks, Nevada, US, June 9-11, 2008 – http://www.unr.edu/ventsymp2008. The deadline for paper abstracts (300-word limit)is August 1, 2007

In addition to topics listed below, authors are encouraged to submit papers for the 2008 symposium specific to the newly implemented Miner’s Act and the control of Diesel Particulate Matter (DPM). Papers discussing the Miner’s Act can include the latest information on mine seals and the use of belt air in coal mine ventilation. In addition, papers concerning fire studies or simulations related to coal operations are encouraged.

For metal/non-metal mine operations, the final DPM standard is scheduled to take effect in May 2008. For the symposium, papers discussing the success and failure of various DPM control strategies are encouraged (e.g. bio-fuels, exhaust filters, enhanced ventilation, etc.)
