Last year, AngloGold Ashanti saw, in the final quarter:
- Gold production decrease 5% to 1.37 Moz, following safety interventions in South Africa and operational difficulties at Geita
- Total cash costs at $404/oz, primarily as a result of lower production, local currency appreciation, and the purchase of uranium to meet contractual obligations
… and for the year:
- Gold production decline 3% to 5.48 Moz, while total cash costs increased by 16% to $357/oz, due to lower production, stronger local currencies and inflationary pressure
- Mineral Resource increases by 34.1 Moz, before depletion for the year, with 6.95 Moz (attributable) from greenfields discoveries. Ore Reserves increases 13Moz, before depletion to 73.1Moz.
