Maptek has entered into a strategic partnership with fleet management and management information systems specialist MinLog. This, it says, “will provide a greater global marketing, delivery and support capability as well as deliver enhanced product functionality to global customers in the short and long term.” Maptek has a longstanding and successful relationship with MinLog in its capacity as distributor of Maptek’s MineSuite product in Africa.
The success of Minlog in this region is reflected in its technical and service abilities, and the outcomes delivered through the MineSuite product. This is in combination with MinLog’s dedicated PPMIS software which is well respected and highly valued by the clients.
“It is a logical partnership, with the potential outcome for our customers globally being greater than the sum of its parts,” said Peter Johnson, Maptek General Manager, Australia. “Integrating MinLog’s already successful Production Performance Management Information System Modules (PPMIS) with existing MineSuite functionality will form the basis for development of an industry leading Mining Execution System (MES). The MES will significantly enhance the functionality and benefits available to the mining industry at the production execution level,” he added.
Managing Director of MinLog, Karel Gilliland, agreed that a mining execution approach at the operational level is essential for optimising productivity across the executional value chain. “This new partnership allows us to leverage our combined expertise to successfully deploy and support the existing fleet management and MIS solutions. More importantly, it allows us to meet the challenge facing industry with regards to managing across process boundaries. Striving for a single MES to be used by all disciplines will result in an offering that will bridge the gap between process and enterprise levels, and ultimately provide for optimisation across the mining value chain.”
Effectively linking and integrating production execution data and reporting with the computerised planning and design functions, which Maptek has pioneered through its modelling and mine planning software, VulcanTM, is a core component in providing innovative solutions which deliver ever improving outcomes at the mine.
“Maptek is now uniquely positioned to deliver resource modelling and mine planning through Vulcan; production execution, management and reporting solutions with the MineSuite MES, and volume reconciliation and material tracking using I-Site scanning systems,” Johnson concluded.
Maptek has been developing 3D software and hardware for more than 25 years. Vulcan is one of the world’s longest standing 3D mine planning and modelling packages. Maptek MineSuite delivers mine production monitoring software and hardware systems for all types of mining operations and processing plants. Maptek I-SiteTM provides easy-to-use high technology surveying solutions for mining and forensic markets. Maptek products are in use at over 800 sites worldwide, supported by a network of 12 offices.
MinLog is a fleet management and management information systems specialist operating in sub-Saharan Africa. Maptek MineSuite systems have been successfully implemented by MinLog at Kumba Resources, African Rainbow Minerals and BHP Billiton sites in South Africa.
