Fugro has been awarded two contracts for high accuracy elevation mapping over parts of South America. With a combined value of $13 million, the contracts will be completed using Fugro EarthData’s exclusive GeoSAR airborne radar mapping system and are funded by the US government. The new awards continue Fugro’s prior work in the region. Since 2002, the company has mapped over 700,000 km2 worldwide using GeoSAR. Final deliverables are scheduled for July and October and will be used to update existing topographic maps in support of regional land management activities. As with previous contracts, Fugro is coordinating with South American government agencies to complete the mapping projects.
