Fluor has won an engineering and limited procurement contract for Newmont Mining’s Minas Conga project in Peru. Nemont moved on to stage four of the project in the first quarter of 2010, having successfully completed stage three. The contract, worth around $170 million, covers select activities through the second quarter of 2011, with Fluor providing overall EPCM services for the project, focusing on the copper concentrator and associated mining facilities.
“This expansion of our current work, for a key client like Newmont, is extremely important to Fluor in the region. We are pleased that our client has the confidence in our local team in Santiago to execute this project while tapping into our significant global mining expertise,” said Dwayne Wilson, Group President of Fluor’s industrial business.
Fluor will execute the engineering from its Santiago, Chile office with support from other global locations.
