Outotec has signed a contract with Boliden for the delivery of Kaldo furnace technology to its Rönnskär copper smelter in Sweden. The delivery will be a part of Boliden’s electronic scrap recycling facility expansion, which will increase the processing capacity from 45,000 t/y, currently, to 120,000 t/y of electronic scrap. The new generation Outotec® Kaldo furnace is expected to be commissioned at the end of 2011.
“Outotec is increasingly involved in environmental business. 76% of our orders received last year were environmental goods and services according to OECD criteria. This order is an example of how our technology can be used for recycling of metals,” says Outotec CEO, Pertti Korhonen.
