Now only 12 months out, AIMEX 2011 – Asia-Pacific’s International Mining Exhibition – to be held at Sydney’s Olympic Park from September 6-9 next year, has already allocated 80% of space and has attracted a number of leading mining equipment suppliers. Held every four years, it will take place during a time of unprecedented mining activity and profits – with booming sales to China, India and other key Asian markets, said Soren Norgaard, AIMEX exhibition manager with show organiser Reed Exhibitions.
“Australia, lead by our very healthy mining sector, has shrugged off the effects of the global financial crisis, setting the scene for what we believe will be a very successful AIMEX 2011,” he said. “Leading suppliers who have already committed to next year’s exhibition include Hitachi Construction and Mining Australia, Atlas Copco, P&H MinePro, Joy Mining, Bucyrus, Industrea, Hyundai, Diversified Mining Services, LeTourneau and many more.”

“In addition we will have international pavilions showcasing the latest products, services and technology from China, Chile, Canada, the USA, Poland, South Africa, India and other countries. Of a total exhibition space of over 18,500 m2 net, we have already contracted over 11,400 m2 – with a further 2,150 m2 on hold – and the remaining space is filling up fast.”
Norgaard said the key goal over the next 12 months would be focusing on the visitor demographics of AIMEX 2011.
“We are looking very closely at our visitor profiles, and over the coming months will be announcing a range of initiatives designed to ensure that we attract the highest-possible quality of visitors. We aim to maximise the attraction of AIMEX 2011 to mining industry practitioners in NSW, Australia as a whole, and internationally. We will also be focussing strongly on critical job functions, to bring along the full spectrum of mining sector decision makers – recognising that decisions are influenced by employees at all levels of the industry, from operators and tradespeople through to top management.
“While this is an east coast exhibition, as our flagship mining event, it covers the full gamut of mining activity and technology, from coal to hard rock mining, from exploration right through to bulk handling and shipping – and every mining activity in between.”
Reed Exhibitions is also working closely with Austrade, as well as major overseas mining exhibitions, to maximise international visitors to AIMEX 2011. “We have a very strong relationship with Austrade, which will bring significant delegations from a number of the world’s most important mining regions, including India, Canada and China. In addition, Reed representatives are attending major overseas exhibitions, including last year’s China Coal and Mining Expo, Chile’s Expomin 2010 in April this year, South Africa’s Electra Mining in Johannesburg in October and India’s IMME in Kolkata in November. These provide us with invaluable contacts and promotional opportunities to a wide international audience – and as a result, we expect a strong showing from international visitors at AIMEX 2011,” Norgaard said.
“The package we are putting together for AIMEX 2011, including related events and new initiatives gives it the potential to be our best event ever.”
