Dumas Contracting has acquired International Specialized Mining Services (ISMS), a Central American-focused underground mining contractor. It is a leading mining contractor with operating bases in the key mining regions of Mexico and Guatemala, from which ISMS is excellently positioned to provide project planning, engineering, underground mine development and production services to its clients throughout Central America.
Commenting on the transaction, Daniel Dumas, Chief Executive Officer of Dumas, said, “We were attracted to ISMS due to the shared focus on industry-leading safety performance and technical capabilities. In addition to this aligned operating philosophy, ISMS and Dumas also share a highly complementary client base. This acquisition serves to further strengthen Dumas’ operating base throughout the Americas and allows us to better serve our key clients across their projects globally.”
Mexico and Central America are key growth markets for Dumas, with a significant number of new projects under development throughout the region and a number of Dumas’ existing clients seeking to realise their new Latin American projects in partnership with Dumas.
This follows Dumas’ acquisition of Peru’s sole shaft-sinking mining contractor, L&L Contratista Minera, in October 2010.
Dumas says it “looks forward to continuing to expand its operations throughout Central and South America and the exciting growth opportunities the region presents for both Dumas and its clients.”
