Minerals processing major, Outotec has signed a contract with Sandfire Resources to deliver key process technologies and services for the DeGrussa copper/gold concentrator in Western Australia. The contract value exceeds €15 million. Outotec’s scope of delivery comprises SAG and ball mills, flotation cells, thickeners and a concentrate filter.The contract also includes commissioning and long term service agreements for maintenance and operational spares. The equipment will be delivered over the next 11 months. “Our delivery to Sandfire’s DeGrussa project will incorporate the latest in technological developments designed to recover the valuable metals in the most sustainable manner possible. In addition, I am very pleased with the long term service contract, which supports our strategy and increases the value to the customer”, stated Outotec’s CEO, Pertti Korhonen.
DeGrussa is located 900 km north of Perth and approximately 150 km north of the mining centre of Meekatharra in the Peak Hill mineral field of Western Australia. The DeGrussa JORC compliant mineral resource inventory currently comprises an indicated and inferred resource of 10.67 Mt grading 5.6 % copper, 1.9 g/t gold and 15 g/t silver containing 600,000 t of copper, 660,000 oz of gold and 5.1 Moz of silver.
