insite40_screenshot_im.jpgGemcom Software has released the latest version of its award-winning InSiteTM mine production management solution. InSite records and evaluates data for service, support and production activities from the mine through to saleable product, providing confidence in data accuracy, and visibility into all areas of production. The latest version of InSite features two new modules that assist with the execution, management and visualisation of the progress of mining tasks.

The Shift Management module provides transparency into shift planning along with inbuilt shift handover functionality, solving problems relating to inefficient use of shift time and conflicting activities or bottlenecks. The Central Monitoring module gives a graphical, real-time view of the entire mining operation with visual representations of all active tasks. This provides visibility into all areas of production management, allowing mine
and plant operations to rapidly respond to changing conditions.

“InSite 4.0 continues to build on its strengths in material movement, stockpile management and reconciliation with the addition of the new Shift Management and Central Monitoring modules. It also incorporates rich visualisation capabilities – a key component of the release – and further refines the great user experience it delivers,” said Charlie Forrest, Gemcom’s Product Manager for InSite. “Altogether, these enhancements enable operations to increase efficiency and address issues proactively under changing conditions. These advancements take InSite to a new level, further setting it apart as the market leader in mine production management software.”

“InSite provided a quick return on investment, enabling us to be up and running in just two months after adopting the system,” says Andre van Wageningen, Senior Project Engineer, Agnico Eagle, Kittila mine. “Thanks to
InSite, our stockpile balances can be accurately calculated and we have the ability to report on numbers we can rely on.”

Additional InSite 4.0 benefits include:

  • An intuitive, easy to navigate web user interface, providing both lightweight client deployment and global access to data for its users
  • State-of-the-art service-oriented architecture and Microsoft Silverlight technology for an even better user experience
  • A new systems Integration Manager feature verifies that source systems are providing production data as expected.

“The mining industry is experiencing a greater reliance on operational cost control that is coupled with the need to maintain or increase production volume. InSite provides our clients with the tools and data required to address these objectives and improve resource efficiency,” said Allen Vaughn, Executive Vice President of Gemcom’s enterprise business unit. “Each mining operation is unique with individual challenges to extract the deposit using different equipment, mine and plant processes. We work very closely with our clients and the industry to understand the changes and requirements that are unique to each cycle in the economy. It’s a key reason why InSite is used all over the world by a diverse group of commodity producers.”
