Arizona-based Mintec will broaden the global reach of its MineSight software by opening a London office October 1. Five technical staff will support and train Mintec’s clients in Europe, North Africa, and Central Asia. They will be led by Paul Griffin, who brings 35 years of mining experience to the team based in Hammersmith, west London. “It has been a bit of a whirlwind, but the new office will be up and running and we’re excited about the future,” said Griffin. When he wasn’t at Mintec’s headquarters in Tucson, Griffin was readying Kennedy House, the company’s newest branch office located near London’s Heathrow Airport.

Soon he will pack his bags for Turkey and the World Mining Congress and Expo in Istanbul, September 11-16. He will also attend Mines and Money in London. “Both these conferences offer excellent opportunities to meet with our existing and potential clients, and to show them what the new team can offer,” said Griffin.

“Mintec has always considered technical support to be the most important issue with clients,” said Griffin. “The new office extends that philosophy to a new and exciting part of the world.”

Griffin has established businesses in South America, South Africa, India, and Europe. He has spent the last 18 years working exclusively in mining software and holds degrees in Mining and Law, and has an MBA.

It’s a fitting resume for Mintec, which is now in its fifth decade of developing end-to-end mining software. After its Tucson headquarters, Mintec now has six branch offices, as well as representatives in Brazil, China, and Thailand. The company has grown from a one-room office started by chairman Fred Banfield in 1970 to an industry leader with more than 180 employees around the world. Close to half of these staff are dedicated to supporting clients worldwide.
