The 25th anniversary National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum (NMHFM) Induction Banquet will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the Las Vegas Hilton, to coincide with MINExpo INTERNATIONAL 2012. The banquet will feature the induction of nominees into the Hall of Fame, joining the prior 214 inductees. The induction ceremony honours men and women who achieved lasting greatness in mining and natural resources. The Prazen Award will also be presented; given to an individual or an organisation that has been instrumental in educating the public about mining’s importance. In addition, a prominent industry representative will be the keynote speaker at the banquet.
The year 2012 marks the silver anniversary of the establishment of the NMHFM and of the Hall of Fame Induction Banquet. The only federally chartered mining museum in the USA, the NMHFM is marking its 25th celebration with a major fundraising campaign. The goal is to ensure the NMHFM “can continue its mission to preserve, share and honour the story of mining’s importance to America. The NMHFM is home to one of the most comprehensive mineral, mining equipment and memorabilia collections in North America.”
MINExpo INTERNATIONAL 2012, sponsored by the National Mining Association, is held every four years. It is the world’s largest mining exhibition and, fuelled by a multi-year boom in global mining, will be the largest ever. It will be attended by more than 38,000 people from more than 100 countries. Furthermore, there will be more than 1,400 exhibitors covering some 750,000 square feet devoted to global mining equipment, technology and services at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
