Crushing equipment major McLanahan has announced the acquisition of Universal Engineering of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Universal manufactures long-lasting equipment for the aggregate and mining industries. McLanahan is kwown for its expertise and focus in crushing soft minerals using roll crushers, feeder breakers and rotary breakers to process minerals such as coal, salt and trona. The Universal acquisition now adds hard rock crushing as well as apron, pan and wobbler feeders, which will complement McLanahan’s existing lines and add a new dimension to the dynamics of the company.
“It is our hope to grow the sales of Universal equipment around the world,” said George Sidney, McLanahan president and COO. “We are excited to have Universal’s high quality, respected machines in our line-up, but we are more excited to have a professional, highly-trained group of people join our team.” Universal products include 28 models of jaw crusher with capacities ranging from 5 to 2,700 t/h as well as double roll crushers, impact crushers, screens and feeders. The company was founded in 1906.
