Leading a team that includes Director of Development Cameron Kirkwood and John Parker Manager Delivery Global Mining Africa, is Parsons Brinckerhoff’s Global Mining Managing Director Mark Dimmock.

He said “the Jacinth Ambrosia project was a great example of the expertise and capability we can bring to a project. This project won Project of the Year and a Gold Award of Merit for project management in the Consult Australia’s 2010 Excellence Awards, and also won the South Australian State and the National Project Management Achievement Award (PMAA) in the Australian Institute of Project Management’s Regional Development category.

“Winning the regional development category award reinforces our approach that today’s mining is so much more than pit to port and concept to closure; it’s about managing and balancing a complex range of often competing issues such as community development and engagement, environment, economic return to community, and shareholder value.

“With Jacinth Ambrosia Mine for example there has been outstanding indigenous and local employment opportunities with over 20% of the mine workforce sourced from the local indigenous community,” said Dimmock.

Dimmock also said that the Global Mining Business is committed to RSA and is continuing to invest significantly in the area. “We are currently working for ENRC, Anglo Platinum and Xstrata in the area, and are in the process of establishing an office in Mozambique which we will be inspecting while we are here.

“The planning for the office is well advanced and underpins our commitment to make a difference in the region,” said Dimmock.

Parsons Brinckerhoff is a well-established supplier of infrastructure services to mining clients. In late 2009, it became the professional services division of Balfour Beatty with the ability to access the combined resources and draw together the expertise and experience of both businesses.
