Reed Mining Events has announced that due to “overwhelming demand” from the industry, its flagship AIMEX – Asia-Pacific’s International Mining Exhibition – will return to the Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park, August 20-23, 2013. AIMEX, which has been held every four years since the 1970s, is the largest mining exhibition in the Asia-Pacific region. The previous edition in September 2011 broke all records; attracting 17,382 visits and 638 exhibitors over four days – cementing its status as the single most important mining event in the Asia-Pacific region. Paul Baker, Reed Mining Events Exhibition Director, said the decision to move AIMEX to a two-year cycle followed an in-depth survey of key visitors and exhibitors – which revealed overwhelming demand for a more frequent show. “According to suppliers and senior managers in Australia’s mining industry, there are compelling reasons for this industry-leading exhibition to be held on a two-year cycle,” he said.
“These include the current high levels of growth in the mining industry – with the need for mining companies to keep fully up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in equipment. There is also the fast-changing nature of the industry and technology, along with large numbers of newcomers to the industry who find an event such as AIMEX an ideal way to learn a lot about the industry in a concentrated time and location,” Baker said.
“In addition, other leading mining exhibitions in the southern hemisphere – which today is the world’s largest source of mining resources – are also held on a two-yearly basis. These include Electra Mining Africa, and Chile Expomin.
“Both these events will have their current editions in 2012, putting AIMEX 2013 and beyond in perfect sync with them, and creating ideal opportunities for international visitors and exhibitors.”
Baker said that the industry overwhelmingly rated AIMEX as the leading mining exhibition for the Asia-Pacific region.
“Furthermore, the exhibition generated unprecedented levels of satisfaction from participants, with 78% of exhibitors and 88% of visitors very or completely satisfied.”
Baker said that on its new two-year cycle, AIMEX would remain the international flagship exhibition hosted by Reed Mining Events.

Baker said exhibition sales for AIMEX would begin in mid-June 2012.
