Australia’s Decmil Group has won a major new contract with Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) as well as variations to two other significant current contracts, totalling A$137 million in value. The company’s subsidiary Decmil Australia will construct facilities for FMG’s T155 rail support infrastructure project in the Pilbara, which will allow for an increase in FMG’s iron ore exporting capacity.
This will include the construction of a new rail car workshop, amenities building and administration centre; carrying out modifications to an existing workshop; co-ordinating the fit-out of the new rail car workshop; and the design and construction of a locomotive provisioning building and rail operations office. The contract value is approximately A$50 million. Decmil Group CEO, Scott Criddle said: “These wins demonstrate our ability to add significant value to key customers, providing innovative and flexible solutions to their requirements on major projects.” In addition to the latest contract with FMG, Decmil has secured an order for additional accommodation to be added to a rail camp being constructed for FMG in the Pilbara, which was originally announced in February 2012. The addition involves a contract variation of some A$40 million.
