Between September 24 and 26, MINExpo will showcase mining’s most advanced technology and services and draw more than 40,000 mining executives, engineers and operators in a record-breaking exhibition of the world’s mining industry.

Hosted every four years by the National Mining Association (NMA), MINExpo puts mining on dramatic display, providing rich visuals and story lines for mining, business, energy and environmental reporters. More than 1,800 exhibitors from 35 countries will showcase a wide range of new product introductions and exhibit some of the largest mining equipment ever assembled under 850,000 square feet of exhibition space. Separate pavilions for China, Australia, Germany, Chile and Canada will highlight mining’s growing role across the world.

“Mining has played a dominant role in powering the world economy,” said NMA’s President and CEO, Hal Quinn. “MINExpo is an extraordinary opportunity to see the industry that is building the future.”

The event draws equipment manufacturers, mining machinery and service providers from around the world to highlight an industry that has powered industrial revolution and rapid urbanisation in the developing world and provides metals and minerals that have become indispensable for new communications and energy technologies. No wonder MINExpo 2012 will be 40% bigger than the 2008 exhibition.

Leading industry figures will be on hand Monday, September 24, at the Opening Session to provide wide-ranging insights into the outlook for sustainable growth and development in the world mining economy, highlight major capital investments in new mining ventures and the quality of global ore deposits, and discuss new applications and markets for metals and minerals, as well as opportunities and challenges to the industry’s continued strong performance.

MINExpo will provide the backdrop for two major annual award announcements. The 2011 winners of the annual Sentinels of Safety Awards will be announced at a luncheon on Tuesday, September 25, and the US Department of the Interior will announce its annual environmental and reclamation awards at a luncheon on Wednesday, September 26.

In addition, education sessions will tackle some of the most timely and pressing issues facing mining and will be led by experts from all segments of the mining industry. www.minexpo.org.
