Matrix, a leader in US underground mining production-use proximity systems, has been demonstrating its new IntelliZone proximity detection system for mobile equipment at MINExpo, including live demonstrations of the new system that features machine-specific dynamic zones based on worker location and speed, and extended range for faster mobile haulage equipment. Matrix has also been showcasing its Controls & Automation division with a unique scale model depicting its expertise in various mining environments. The C&A Team focuses on delivering cost-effective industrial productivity solutions, including design and build for substations, prep plants, conveyors, hoists, and load-out control systems.
Matrix has also previewed its MX3 communications, tracking, atmospheric monitoring and belt control system. MX3 “combines the best elements of leaky feeder communications, wireless node tracking, conventional CO monitoring, and belt control onto a single high-speed redundant infrastructure that is easy-to-use, easy-to-advance, and low cost-per-foot.” The system includes rugged voice and text handsets, two-year battery life tracking tags, wireless Intrinsically Safe (IS) CO, CH4 and Airflow sensors, longwall and low-seam configurations, and comprehensive software.
