Rig Source, based in Elburn, Illinois, recently introduced its new Terramac RT9 rubber track multipurpose carrier at MINExpo 2012. The Terramac RT9, designed to serve the mining, pipeline, drilling and general construction industries, featured a Tiger crane and a 1,600 gal mounted water tank to demonstrate some of the many attachment options. The cab and carriage base unit can easily accommodate front and rear bolt-on attachments, with the pivot shaft blocks bolted on, rather than welded on. Other attachment options include drills, lifts and tipper/dump bodies. The North American made RT9 is set up specifically to accept whatever equipment the buyer has chosen to mount on it.
“We created the RT9 with versatility as a top priority. A customer can customise the RT9 direct from the factory,” said Mike Crimaldi, President of Rig Source and one of the creators of the Terramac line. “The ability to mount a variety of machines is the RT9’s core differentiator and strength.” Rig Source is currently the exclusive distributor of the new carrier, and says it has already accepted sales and rental orders for the Terramac RT9 both in the US and internationally. The CE-certified Terramac RT9 model is equipped with a 230 hp Cummins diesel engine. Although the carrier has a 8,200 kg carrying capacity, ground pressure when fully loaded is only 4.9 psi. The unit has rollover protective structure (ROPS) as well as falling object protective structure (FOPS) components. Open cab and closed cab options are available. The rubber track crawler carrier has a 17 ft 7 in overall length, 8 ft 5 in width and 9 ft 3 in height with 20 in minimum ground clearance. The unit drives at 2.5 m/hr to 6 m/hr and has a 10 ft turning radius.
A well-received feature of the new carrier is the ease of maintenance that has been built into the design of the RT9. The easily accessible ports allow technicians easy access to monitor pressure throughout the hydraulic system. Support and availability of replacement parts as well as service are available through the Rig Source headquarters near Chicago. Also announced is that UCO Equipment has partnered with Rig Source, to become the first Terramac dealer in North America. Headquartered in Cabot, Arkansas, UCO Equipment maintains a large rental fleet of crawler carrier and is fully equipped for custom fabrication, offer hydraulic parts and services.
Terramac crawler carriers can be ordered from the factory with the correct body configuration to accept custom accessories. The company offers a wide range of parts and accessories to purchase as well as replacement parts after purchase and delivery of the crawler carrier. Customers can purchase rubber tracks, expendables and undercarriage parts including rollers, sprockets, idlers and travel motors.
