To support a growing customer base in the Middle East and South America, Climax Portable Machining & Welding Systems, the global provider of engineering services, portable machine tools, and automated welding systems, has opened two new rentals depots in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Sao Paulo, Brazil. The company said the move was to meet the growing demand for its precision portable machine tools and automated welding systems used for on-site repair of heavy equipment within major industries including mining.
With these two new facilities, Climax now has 16 rental depots worldwide. The group commented: “These locations play a key role in giving customers flexibility and access to Climax’s wide range of portable machining and welding equipment. Regional rental locations also allow customers to take advantage of all the benefits of renting equipment: reduced cost and downtime, and the ability to use precision, quality tools for their applications.” The new depots are staffed by experts who are able to assist customers in selecting the best rental machine for their on-site repair and maintenance projects. These locations also offer training on safe and proper operation of the equipment, as well as new equipment sales and repair service. In Sao Paulo, Brazil, the Climax rental depot is managed by Powermaq, a key Climax distributor and supplier of equipment for the mining and heavy construction industry. The rental depot in Dubai, UAE is under the direction of Safe Technical Supply, a Climax distributor and one of the leading machine tool suppliers to the marine, oilfield and industrial industries.
“Time is money for our customers. The regional accessibility of our rental depots means they can quickly supplement their existing equipment with the latest and most innovative portable machining and welding systems on the market. We are excited to give more companies the ability to use Climax equipment to get their jobs done more efficiently, allowing them to take on more projects,” said Dave Baker, Director of Global Rental Operations for Climax. In its success stories, the company cites a case where a field service company was called upon by a mining operation at a remote location in Latin America to remachine an out-of-spec slewing ring on a piece of heavy equipment. Using a Climax BB6000 boring machine to complete the job on-site, the crew was able to repair and reassemble the shovel and have it back in action within four days, and saving more than $15,000 in transportation costs.
