The new SPX Hydraulic Spreader is a hydraulically operated tool which uses an integrated wedge concept. Hydraulic spreaders can be used in the mining industry during equipment service and maintenance to open flanges, separate parts on engines, gearboxes, pumps, compressors and plated heat exchangers as well as separating stone blocks in quarries. It can also be used to position heavy mining equipment and initiate lifting operations.
The SPX Hydraulic Spreader has a very small closed nose thickness (5.5 mm to 35 mm) which allows it to treat flanges with narrow gaps. It is also lightweight (3.2 kg) and has a compact design with multiple positions available and has been designed for ease of use. The hydraulic spreader has 15 t per tool of spreading force and it is suggested that tools are used in pairs giving 30 t of spreading force. It also offers high grade corrosion resistance and allows for quick and easy maintenance. No special tools are required for maintenance and it is quickly adjustable to various tasks by means of interchangeable shoes (serrated or stepped). The SPX Hydraulic Spreader is single acting and requires actuation from a 700 bar hydraulic pump with a three way valve.
