Last few days for International Mining Technology Hall of Fame nominations

Posted on 18 Sep 2013

There are only a few days left to nominate an individual or team from the mining industry – past and present – who you think deserves recognition and entry into the International Mining Technology Hall of Fame (www.im-halloffame.com). You have until September 20 to make your submission; after this all nominations will be put before the college of voters. The 14 award categories include; Bulk Handling, Comminution, Concentration, Exploration, Mining Software, Outstanding Innovator, Safety, Surface Mine Load and Haul, Surface Mine Production, Tailings Management, Underground Development, Underground Load and Haul, Underground Production, and Underground Support. Nominations of up to 500 words should include the name of the person or team nominated, the innovation and why they have been nominated.

Once the nominations are in, the voting will be undertaken by a college of some 200 experts and leaders in the fields of exploration, mining and processing. The International Mining Technology Hall of Fame will recognise these pioneers across these 14 categories at a gala dinner at the Grand America Hotel, Salt Lake City, which will take place on February 22 2014.

The mining equipment and technology sector has made advances thanks to the dedication and expertise of individuals or small groups that have pushed the boundaries of innovation and R&D, offering new solutions to old problems, whilst facing varying challenges from internal and external scepticism to funding shortages.  Nominees could be as varied as the developer of a fundamental improvement in crusher or drill rig design, to the introduction of a new process or mining method.

Make your nomination now and ensure that you include detailed information for how your nomination has affected the industry and include any supporting information and images you have available to support the proposal.
